Mitigation and RestorationBackground Developers may be required to conduct restoration to offset the impacts to wetlands from construction projects. The Tulsa District provides rules and guidelines for conducting compensatory mitigation. The Oklahoma Conservation Commission (OCC) is in the process of developing two resources that will help developers identify suitable restoration sites.
Wetland Registry The Wetland Registry is a list of landowners with suitable sites for wetland restoration and the desire to see their property restored. Each entry includes location and wetland type information, so those in need of restoration sites can query the database and identify suitable locations. If you have a wetland or stream on your property that you believe is suitable for restoration you can provide information about it here: Submit a potential wetland or stream restoration site If you are seeking wetland or stream restoration you can provide us information and we will return a list of potential sites that match your criteria: Search for restoration sites .
Restorable Wetlands Database The Restorable Wetlands Database is a list of potential wetland restoration sites in high priority watersheds, with impaired water quality resulting from non-point solutions. These wetlands represent state priority restoration sites that can be used as wetland mitigation while improving the water quality of downstream receiving waters such as lakes and rivers. The Restorable Wetlands Database is currently under development and a list of priority wetland restorations will be available in three watersheds (Thunderbird, Horse Creek, and a portion of the North Canadian) by the end of 2014. Additional watersheds may be added in the future as well.
