Oklahoma Forestry Services and Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co.(OG&E) are partnering to host a conservation seedling truck sale in Muskogee on Wednesday, March 26th from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the OG&E Service Center located at the corner of 24th Street and Hancock. The truck sale offers the convenience of purchasing conservation seedlings close to home, and the opportunity to talk with area foresters and OG&E staff about tree planting, care and trimming.
Additionally, OG&E is giving away a free seedling to the first 100 people who visit the OG&E information booth to learn more about tree trimming policies from their Vegetation Management staff. OG&E will also have staff on hand to show customers how they can use energy more efficiently and save money by enrolling in the SmartHours Price Plan.
The Oklahoma Forestry Services nursery grows over thirty types of trees and shrubs from local seed sources. New species this year are chittamwood, black hickory and Indian currant. Millions of native trees and shrubs produced at the nursery are shipped to all corners of the state each year.
Seedlings are bare-root, one or two years old and 10 to 30 inches in height and sold in bundles of 50 per species. Hardwood ???super cells??? must be purchased in blocks of 25 per species with a minimum order of 25 trees.
???We offer conservation seedlings that have been grown in our state nursery south of Norman,??? said State Forester George Geissler. ???These trees have been grown from local seed sources and are specifically designed to thrive in Oklahoma.???
