''Tinker Field'' will be dedicated Tuesday, May 6 at 10:30 in the Senate Chamber.
Tinker Air Force Base opened in 1941 as a maintenance and supply depot on order of the War Department. The Base provided aircraft and supply support among other services during World War II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam and Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Today, it is the home of the Air Force Materiel Command, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, which is the worldwide manager for a variety of aircraft, engines, missiles, software and avionics components.
The painting, by Oklahoma artist R.T. Foster, is sponsored by State Senator Cliff and DeeAnn Aldridge. Tinker Air Force Base is in Aldridge's Senate district.
A reception will follow in the Senate Lounge where the media can interview the artist and sponsors.
