Oklahoma Forestry
Services is asking the public to be aware of increasing wildfire danger today
that will be prevalent throughout the weekend across much of Oklahoma.?? Today's highest fire danger is in the
northwest part of the state.
???We're seeing fire
weather conditions beginning to look like they did last week, only in a smaller
part of the state,??? said George Geissler, Oklahoma State Forester.?? ???We are watching fire conditions closely and
urge people to be aware and use caution with anything that could cause a
spark.???
Warm temperatures,
clear skies and low relative humidity will result in very dry conditions.?? Additionally winds at 14 -21 mph, with some
higher gusts will result in fire spreading quickly. Drying conditions will
expand today.
Oklahoma Forestry
Service continues to ramp up its preparedness efforts by prepositioning
firefighters to areas of greatest concern.??
OFS has also brought additional resources including firefighters, dozers
and engines in from other states and added more aircraft, including air tankers
with the ability to drop retardant.??
Oklahoma Forestry Services is the state's lead
agency related to wildland fire prevention, protection and use. For additional
