Huber
Engineered Woods, LLC was awarded the Environmental Excellence Award in the
business category by Keep Oklahoma Beautiful at its 25th Annual Environmental
Excellence Celebration on November 30 at the National Cowboy & Western
Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
??
Recognized
for its ???Trees for Oklahoma Seedling Program,??? Huber Engineered Woods, LLC,
located in Broken Bow, has funded the planting of more than six million seedlings
on an estimated 8,000 acres by landowners in southeastern Oklahoma since 2005.
Huber Engineered Woods, LLC purchases the seedlings from Oklahoma Forestry
Services' state nursery and provides them, at no cost, to private landowners in
an effort to encourage pine reforestation.
???We
are thrilled that Keep Oklahoma Beautiful has recognized Huber's extraordinary
efforts,??? said State Forester George Geissler. ???This program not only helps
private landowners offset replanting costs, but six million trees represent a
substantial investment in and commitment to the health and sustainability of
our state's forests.???
??
Through
this program, non-industrial private landowners are encouraged to maintain
their land in a productive manner and to enhance their property by maintaining
a healthy forest cover, improving wildlife habitat and minimizing soil erosion,
which protects water quality.?? Oklahoma
Forestry Services administers the program and its professional foresters
provide technical assistance to the landowners.
???We
appreciate receiving this award from Keep Oklahoma Beautiful for our tree
planting program,??? said Garrett Tipton, Wood Procurement Manager for Huber in
Broken Bow.?? ???The Huber family remains
committed to helping ensure that trees and forests will be as plentiful in the
future as they are today, not only for our company, but also for a healthy
natural environment and for the people who depend upon it.???
Oklahoma's
seedling program is patterned after similar cooperative ventures in other
states where Huber manufacturing plants are located. The Huber Corporation is
one of the largest and oldest family-owned companies in America and is
headquartered in Edison, New Jersey. Huber's oriented strand board plant in
Broken Bow, Oklahoma, began operations in April 2004 and currently operates the
largest ???continuous mat press??? OSB plant in the United States.
