William (Leroy) Tackett was named Chief of Surveys for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s Survey Division in 2014. He worked as a Survey Technician and Specialist at ODOT field offices in Sulphur and Ada from 1982 to 1997. In 1997, he became a Professional Land Surveyor in Tecumseh and Muskogee before being promoted to Land Surveyor Manager in 1998. He then served as Assistant Chief of Surveys from 2005 until moving to his current position.
Tackett was born in Ponca City and graduated from Cordell High School in 1979. He is a Licensed Land Surveyor and Certified Public Manager. Tackett continues a family tradition of public service at ODOT. Both his father, Luther Edward Tackett, and great Uncle, Malcom Gladney, worked for Survey Division. Tackett and his wife live in Tecumseh and have two children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
