Dan Overland was reappointed to the Oklahoma Transportation Commission by Gov. Mary Fallin in April 2011 after serving eight years on the commission under Gov. Brad Henry. He represents District Three, an 11-county area of east-central Oklahoma.
Overland has been in the telephone business for over 25 years.
He is a native of Midwest City and attended Midwest City High School and The University of Oklahoma.
Starting as a plant accountant for the Pottawatomie Telephone Co. in 1977, he moved up to general manager in 1985. In 1993, he co-founded MBO Corp., which acquired Pottawatomie Telephone, as well as several other communications companies. Overland is also a past president of the Oklahoma Telephone Association and presently on the board of directors of the U.S. Telecom Association.
He is senior vice president of MBO and general manager of Pottawatomie Telephone Company. Overland serves as director of Arvest Bank of Shawnee and is on the Board of Trustees at St. Gregory’s University. He is also a member of the Oklahoma Telephone Association Hall of Fame.
Overland and his wife, Nancy, live in Shawnee and have three children and five grandchildren.
