WINTER STORM DELIVERS POWER OUTAGES TO STATE
The winter weather system that delivered freezing rain and sleet since Saturday night continues to cause hazardous road conditions and power outages.
Statewide there are 21,086 homes and businesses without electric service.
AEP-PSO reports 14,719 without power, including 9,800 in the Tulsa metro area, 3,400 in Bartlesville and 492 in Vinita.
OG&E reports 6,367 without power, including 1,516 in Mustang, 1,462 in Yukon, 1,111 in Midwest City and 684 in Chandler.
The American Red Cross has opened a Warming Center in Miami at the Assembly of God Church, 1815 E. Steve Owens Blvd. The warming center provides hot coffee and a place to get out of the cold.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reports many crashes across the state due to slick and hazardous road conditions. Travel is discouraged. If they must travel, motorists are reminded to slow down, increase distance between theirs and the next vehicle and to wear their seatbelts. For Oklahoma road conditions, call 888-425-2385. Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) crews continue to work to keep interstates and state highways clear. Motorists are reminded to remain at least 200 feet back from trucks clearing the roads and equipment applying materials.
