HP Administrative Services, LLC has a detailed timeline for the implementation of ICD-10 Codes by the October 1, 2014, compliance date. Claims for services provided on or after October 1, 2014, must use ICD-10 codes for medical diagnosis, inpatient procedures, outpatient services and any other service that requires a diagnosis code. Claims with service dates prior to October 1, 2014, must use ICD-9 codes.
HP Administrative Services, LLC has adopted an Analyze-Build-Test-Implement approach to implement ICD-10 at EGID. What follows is an implementation update:
With a few exceptions, HP Administrative Services, LLC has completed an end-to-end analysis of the system for ICD-10 impact and focused on completing an impact analysis for all reports by the end of 2013.
During this phase, HP Administrative Services, LLC has loaded a test region with the ICD-10 code set and configured it for ICD-10 using the CMS General Equivalency Mapping (GEM) recommendations. This phase is iterative in that updates will be made on a rolling basis to achieve expected testing outcomes.
This phase includes internal testing of configuration changes and local changes as well as end-to-end testing by HP Administrative Services, LLC in the test system. External testing will follow internal testing and include participation by all impacted entities including EGID providers, third parties and vendors.
Preparation for the live implementation of ICD-10 began in the middle of the testing phase and will continue through the end of the testing phase. HP Administrative Services, LLC will provide an ICD-10 cutover plan and roll-back procedures for the EGID live implementation closer to the live date. The live implementation is projected for September 2014.
