Not Otherwise Classified Drugs (NOC)
Posted 08/09/13; Modified 10/23/13
Not otherwise classified (NOC) drugs on the HealthChoice and Department of Corrections (DOC) fee schedules are marked as NOC and $0.00 for the allowed charge. The codes do not currently have an average sales price (ASP) or an average wholesale price (AWP) to use as a basis for reimbursement. When a provider submits one of these codes with billed charges above a certain dollar threshold, the provider must provide the National Drug Code (NDC), the drug/generic name, strength, dosage administered and route of administration in order to determine an allowed charge. Claims will be denied if this information is not provided.
