Health Care Reform (The Affordable Care Act)
Posted 07/10/12

The recent Supreme Court decision regarding health care reform (Affordable Care Act) has raised questions about how the law will impact HealthChoice Network Providers and Plan members.

A majority of items in the Affordable Care Act relate to significant financial issues for private plans, such as removing pre-existing condition clauses and expanding preventive health care services. These benefits were already part of the HealthChoice plan of benefits prior to health care reform. Consequently, the financial impact to the HealthChoice plans is relatively small. There will be no direct effect on the Provider Network, and members will experience no benefit reductions as a result of the new law.

The HealthChoice plans remain financially strong and stable. It is our mission to keep premiums as low as possible and provide quality, affordable healthcare benefits to employees and retirees of state, education, and local government entities.

HealthChoice will continue to seek out the improvements and innovations that will keep its plans competitive.
