Introduction: Since the initial passage of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), private school students and teachers have been eligible to participate in certain federal education programs. ESEA, as reauthorized by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), includes 12 major programs that require equitable services be provided to private school students, teachers, and other educational personnel, and in some cases, families.
Private School Services are intended to assist Local Education Agencies (LEAs) receiving federal financial assistance to fulfill their obligations to provide equitable services to eligible private school students, teachers, and other educational personnel.
