Prevention Services

What are School - Based Prevention Services?

School-based prevention services are evidence-based programs, policies, and practices implemented with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to build protective aspects against identified risk factors.

Healthy students are better learners, and academic achievement bears a lifetime of benefits for health. Youth risk behaviors are consistently linked to poor grades, test scores, and lower educational attainment.1 The Office of Prevention Services works with state partners and LEAs to offer supports and to implement programs that help mitigate these behaviors.
