When our oldest daughter was a junior in high school, we began completing applications for college, filling out forms for scholarships and funding, and preparing her (and us) mentally for all that “Going off to college” entailed.
Parents and students need information about where to look for financial help. Since this was the first time for us to have a child preparing to attend college, I felt totally inept when looking for help. FAFSA….what is that? What is included when you pay tuition or dormitory fees?
The Tulsa World recently published a story that provides helpful links for students and parents of students who are planning to attend college. Please also know that the counselors at your child’s high school and at the colleges and university are great for assisting students and parents in preparing for college.
Nelson Mandela is quoted in saying that “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” It is our responsibility as parents to support our children in getting this most powerful of weapons, EDUCATION!
