Oklahoma State Department of Education Implementation Timeline for the Common Core State Standards.

By the end of the 2013-2014 school year:

  • Common Core State Standards will be fully implemented in schools.

Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year:

  • Testing of the Common Core State Standards will begin.
  • The Common Core tests will assess English/Language Arts and Mathematics in grades 3 through high school.
  • The state will continue to produce Science and History assessments for grades 5, 8, and high school.
  • The OCCT tests will not be continued as benchmarks.  Currently, the state provides the Acuity benchmark assessments for grades 3 through high school.  These assessments are aligned to the Common Core and are provided as a transition service for schools.

CCSSO Common Core Implementation Video Series
These videos were developed to help diverse groups – educators, policymakers, parents – better understand the breadth and depth of the Standards and how they will improve teaching, make classrooms better, create shared expectations, and cultivate lifelong learning for all students. The segments are organized into separate Mathematics and ELA sections, and demonstrate critical concepts related to each.

Achieve the Core: Common Core Instructional Leadership Module
This 1.5–4 hour module is designed to guide and support principals, content supervisors, central office leaders, and coaches in the work of planning and carrying out the implementation of the Common Core State Standards. The module addresses five aspects of effective leadership in implementation: knowing and understanding the shifts, setting a vision for college and career readiness, developing clear metrics to guide the work, building capacity in schools, and staying engaged.

Parents

The Parents’ Guide to Student Success with the Common Core State Standards
The Parents’ Guide to Student Success, provided in English and Spanish, was developed in response to the Common Core State Standards in English language arts and mathematics that more than 40 states have adopted. Created by teachers, parents, education experts, and others from across the country, the standards provide clear, consistent expectations for what students should be learning at each grade in order to be prepared for college and career. This site provides Parent Brochures on the Common Core for each grade level K-12.
