This site is a resource for district personnel, parents and students to learn about the many services offered throughout the state. It also provides information on the types of low, mid, and high tech tools available for assisting students and differentiating instruction. Always remember….anything can be considered Assistive Technology if it provides an educational benefit for a student with a disability.

IDEA: Assistive Technology The IDEA defines “assistive technology device” as any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a child with a disability. “Assistive technology service” means any service that directly assists a child with a disability in the selection, acquisition, or use of an assistive technology device. The IDEA requires each public agency to ensure that assistive technology devices and services are made available to each child with a disability if required as part of the child’s special education, related services, or supplementary aids and services. |
