Details

These grants are site specific, one-time grants.  They are awarded for a specific AP Class (e.g., AP English Language and Composition).  Each AP course is eligible for this grant.  For example, AP Calculus AB is one class; AP Calculus BC is another class.  Both classes are eligible for separate 1st Time Grants.

Eligible Recipients

Public high schools that have not previously been awarded a 1st Time grant

Public high schools that were awarded a 1st Time grant a minimum of 5 years ago.

Public high schools in conjunction with a feeder middle school.  The vertical team must include a minimum of 7th to 12th grade teachers.

Grant Requirements
  • Recipient of grant must attend an AP Summer Institute within one year of the grant award.
  • School must offer the AP class for which the grant was written during the school year following the award of the grant.
  • School must make AP exams in the subject area of the grant available to students.
  • School must provide a detailed expenditure report of all items purchased with grant funds.

Applications must be postmarked by December 5.

Duration of Grant

All funds must be expended by December 31.

Timeline for AP Grants

September

Applications available online

December 5 Applications are due - original and 3 copies.
January 31 Names of awardees are taken to the State Board of Education for approval and announcement.
June/July AP Summer Institutes are held.
December 31 All grant funds must be spent.
February 1
  • Copy of AP Summer Institute attendance certificate is due for 1st time, 2nd time and Vertical Team Grants
  • Evaluation is due for Training Grant
  • Detailed expenditure report is due for all grants
