OSBI Investigates Police-Involved Shooting in Cushing
Thursday evening, two Cushing police officers responded to a disturbance call at 1500 East Main at Simpson Chiropractic. Early reports indicate a man outside the business confronted the officers with a gun. The officers demanded 18-year-old Rabih Ozeir (d.o.b. 11-22-1994), of Tulsa, to put down the gun. Ozeir did not comply. The officers fired their duty weapons numerous times injuring Ozeir. He was taken to a local hospital and then flown to a Tulsa hospital where he died. The medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy.
The Cushing Police Chief requested OSBI investigate the shooting. Such an investigation includes interviewing the officers, interviewing any witnesses to the confrontation and shooting, collecting evidence at the scene, and photographing the crime scene. The OSBI will compile this information and produce a written report of the facts in the case. This report will be presented to the District Attorney and the Cushing Police Chief as soon as possible. The District Attorney will determine whether the shooting was justified.
