Update on Lawton Officer-Involved Vehicular Fatality
OSBI agents continue to investigate the officer-involved vehicular fatality in Lawton from over the weekend. At approximately 3 a.m. Saturday, a Lawton police officer called for medical personnel. Michael Davis (d.o.b. 5-19-1980) had been struck by the officer’s vehicle during a pursuit. The Lawton man died at the scene.
The pursuit started when a domestic assault call was made to Lawton police at the Super 9 Motel at 12th and Cache Road. Davis fled the scene in a car as officers pursued. The officers lost sight of the vehicle and ceased the pursuit. Shortly after, an officer spotted the vehicle again and a second pursuit ensued. That pursuit ended at the intersection of 70th and Kingsbury.
The Lawton Police Department requested OSBI work the investigation. OSBI requested the Oklahoma Highway Patrol fatality accident investigators work the accident scene.
OSBI agents continue gathering information and evidence. Once the investigation is completed, agents will provide the District Attorney’s Office a copy of the report.
