OSBI Agents Investigate Kay County Homicide

At approximately noon today, the Kay County Sheriff’s Department requested OSBI agents assist with a homicide investigation. A man’s body was found in an old, abandoned trailer on the south end of Ponca City off 2800 S. River road. The body had been there several weeks. The medical examiner’s office has taken possession of the body and will perform an autopsy later this week to determine the cause/manner of death. Doctors will also make a positive identification on the homicide victim.

OSBI agents spent the day processing the crime scene and running leads.

Agents arrested one person in connection with the homicide. Jared James Bales (d.o.b. 3-8-80) was arrested on a complaint of murder in the first degree. Bales is from the Ponca City area.
