WHAT ARE THE STATE'S INVESTMENT EARNINGS?
ANNUAL INVESTMENT PERFORMANCE (IN MILLIONS)

Investing for You
Treasurer Meacham invests state funds to generate earnings to offset the need for more tax dollars. Every dollar generated by the treasurer’s investments is one less tax dollar that is needed to pay for state services for the people.
The money earned last year on Treasurer Meacham’s investments, for example, is enough to pay the annual salaries of more than 4,200 Oklahoma school teachers.
Big Results
Less than $50 million was earned the year before Treasurer Meacham took office. During Treasurer Meacham’s first two years in office, investment earnings tripled – generating almost $100 million during FY 2006 and almost $150 million during FY 2007. For FY 2008, earnings are estimated to reach $153 million.
The improved investment performance comes from Treasurer Meacham’s restructuring of the portfolio – placing more money into safe, higher-yielding investments.
