OFFICIAL ESTIMATING PROCESS
The State Board of Equalization makes an official estimate about how much money the Legislature will have to appropriate the next fiscal year. It does this by projecting the revenue to be collected in a number of state funds. The chart below shows these funds as a percentage of the total official estimate.
Of this official estimate:
- 95% is available for appropriations
- 95% is available (if collected) for use in the next year
- Revenue collected over 100% of the official revenue estimate is deposited in the Rainy Day Fund
