“The mission of the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs is to ensure all Oklahoma veterans and their families receive all benefits to which they may be entitled and provide excellent health services and long-term skilled care in a residential environment to all qualified wartime veterans residing in the state.”
“All veterans and their families receive all benefits” means all veterans receive any and all state and national benefits. It also means that veterans and their families are aware of services available from ODVA to help them.
“Excellent” means second to none. ODVA has the best veterans program in the nation and the mission obligates the employees to remain number one. “Excellent” means each job and contribution is guided by best practices.
“Health services and long-term skilled care” is the agency commitment to the full range of health care, support and housing in a home-like environment. This inclusive phrase allows additional services like adult day care and psychiatric services when needed.
“Qualified wartime veterans residing in Oklahoma” means the veteran’s military service meets the federally defined requirements and the veteran resides in Oklahoma.
Additional characteristics of ODVA style and services driven by the mission include:
• Each center’s atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed
• All employees are sensitive to residents and their families
• Employees communicate well and enjoy coming to work
