The State Election Board is composed of three members and two alternate members. An alternate member serves on the State Election Board at any meeting that a member for whom the person is an alternate is unable to attend.
State Election Board members and alternate members are appointed to four-year terms by the Governor, from lists provided by the political parties with the largest and second largest numbers of registered voters, with the advice and consent of the State Senate.
Administration of the office is the responsibility of the Secretary of the State Election Board. The Secretary of the State Election Board also serves as Secretary of the State Senate.
