Howard McLeod Correctional Center
The Howard McLeod Correctional Center (HMCC) is a minimum security, adult male facility located 30 miles southeast of Atoka, Oklahoma. The facility capacity is 616 offenders and facility property is comprised of approximately 5300 acres. Facility land is utilized by the Agri-Services division to produce cattle, vegetables, hay, pecans, and fire wood. The institution uses the vegetables in the food service department and excess production is shared with other facilities in order to help reduce expenditures for offender food purchases.
The facility has several programs available to offenders, including a career tech program with classes in welding, machine technology, and heavy equipment operation. Education is available with classes from literacy through GED. College courses are also available for offenders who qualify. Self-help programs are also available and include Thinking For A Change, Uprooting Anger, Genesis I, Alcohol Anoymous (AN), Narcotics Anoymous (NA), and Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP).
