0:00-0:09 -Intro Music

0:10-0:17 – Write a Check Blind

0:18-0:23 - Teacher: “So the amount you are going to make to Sandra Stevenson  is 2 Million Dollars”

0:24-0:27- Students talk among themselves “This is going to be a little hard”

0:28-0:41 Another student to another “I don’t know how to write this, you have to teach me”

Response- “you put the date in the upper right hand corner of the check. Today is the 26th. Then you are going to come down about probably a centimeter to the right.”

0:42 – 1:04-Students React to Being Blind: “It was hard, my head hurts. ..umm and food tastes differently. Oh and the bag of chips, I couldn’t tell when it was almost gone so I was disappointed when I couldn’t feel for anymore chips. Um my check writing skills are really bad.”

1:06-1:14- “Very hard. I felt like walking 20ft was 2 miles. Try not to squeeze your arm as hard and just trust in her.”

1:15-1:34 “It was very difficult. It gives you a whole different perspective of how people that are blind um it’s a huge impairment. Like it said it gives you a different perspective of how they feel, how they eat, how they drink.”

1:35-1:49- “I think I got more frustrated than anything. I like to do things real fast and get them done not like taking my time and trying to feel around for things was hard for me. Um walking back I had to hold Courtney’s hand. I was scared, I about ran into the door.”

1:50-1:57- “Walking like I said was just really hard, where you have to have a slow pace, relax and just focus.”

1:58-2:18- “My check writing skills aren’t very good so” Teacher: “would the bank accept it?” Student: “No. I just like wrote all over the whole thing. But walking was really hard, I just had to shuffle my feet and not take normal steps because I was scared and I don’t like the feeling of having to rely on somebody else.” 

2:19-2:36- “And on the way in here I was kind of trusting the person in front of me and we were told to kind of make a wide turn. Well I ended up a little too wide and um I kind of ran into the door like this. Both sides didn’t work and I hit the door and my initial reaction… I was mad.”

2:37-2:57- “Walking over here like I uhh like didn’t like when I felt a floor change and it made me really nervous and then I like stutter stepped and didn’t really take big steps cause I was kinda scared to and then uh I was in front of Miranda and I felt her hit the door.”

2:58-3:07 Students Simulate Disabilities. Teacher: “How would you put your boots up if you had a prosthetic? Can you get your boots on or not?”

3:08-3:28- Putting on Shoes- music

3:29-3:40- Opening a door- music

3:41-3:49- Going down stairs blind- music

3:50-4:02- Learning to use a cane- music

4:03-4:31- Tie Shoes with a Prosthetic- music

4:32-4:39- LUPT Clinicals- Ending
