Timely, accurate information is critical before, during and after an emergency. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, through its Public Information Division, works to ensure the general public and the media are informed of emergency situations that could affect public safety, health and property. Toward that effort, the division distributes Situation Updates during emergency incidents and disasters. Additionally, the division provides information citizens can use to protect themselves from various hazards including tornadoes, terrorism, floods, winter storms, chemical spills and bioterrorism.
