Storms Deliver Damage to Oklahoma Communities
The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) received the following damage reports related to the severe storms that moved through Oklahoma June 4-5. Power lines and trees are down in many areas. Preliminary damage assessments are on-going. There are no requests for state assistance at this time. EOC staff remains in contact with emergency managers in the affected areas.
January 4-5, 2005 - Winter Weather Event
On January 4th a strong upper system moved towards Oklahoma. At the same time, sub-freezing air was located in northwest Oklahoma. With temperatures around 30F the rain turned into freezing rain for much of northwest Oklahoma. Late on the 4th a strong cold front moved into the state pushing temperatures below freezing for the northwest 2/3rds of the state. Freezing rain occurred across much of this area, however areas around Oklahoma City received about 1/4 inch while Woodward received about one inch of ice accumulation.
